OVERVIEW

WS2+ Racing is a subcategory of Mapetrol products that are made using a special formulation with IF-WS2. The website was designed to introduce and sell motor oils with advanced WS2+ technology aimed at high-performance racing enthusiasts. This project involved creating a modern and technical website that aligns with the brand’s identity while providing comprehensive information about WS2+ lubricants, their benefits, and applications.

PROCESS

Research and inspiration
The first step was a competitor analysis, examining brands like Mobil 1 and Castrol to identify common design trends, including dark color schemes, highlighting technical details, and clear navigation. This analysis helped identify opportunities for making this website stand out through unique color choices and visual emphasis on WS2+ technology. The target audience, which includes racing professionals and mechanics who value durability and performance, was also defined, which helped bring focus to the important areas of the project. 

Information Architecture

Wireframing
The wireframes focused on clear navigation and logical flow, making it easy for users to find product information and customer feedback. These wireframes laid the foundation for an accessible design that effectively presents the products.

UI Design
This phase focused on creating a modern and technical look that aligns with the brand’s high-performance identity. A dark color scheme with bold accents was chosen to stand out and convey a sense of innovation. Clean, bold typography paired with high-contrast elements enhanced readability, while custom icons and visuals reinforced the brand’s scientific focus. 

Prototyping & testing
An interactive prototype was developed to simulate the user experience and test the website’s flow and functionality. This prototype allowed for testing key interactions, such as navigation between product pages and the checkout process. User testing sessions were conducted to gather feedback on ease of navigation, readability, and the visual appeal of technical details. Based on feedback, adjustments were made to refine button placements, font sizes, and interactive elements, ensuring a good experience. 

OUTCOME

The website successfully combines a modern and technical look to attract racing enthusiasts and professionals. The layout makes it easy for users to explore products, read testimonials, and make purchases and user testing showed that users found the site intuitive and visually appealing.

Working on the WS2+ Racing website was a rewarding experience that deepened my understanding of designing for a specialized audience. I learned how essential it is to convey technical information in a way that feels accessible and engaging, especially for users looking for high-performance products. This project reminded me of the impact that thoughtful design choices can have on user trust and brand perception, and it’s exciting to see how design can communicate both the precision and energy of a racing brand like this.
